‘Once you have a barefoot shoe
you will never go back to anything else’

Barefoot shoes help the body to relax and reduce back problems. The feet are made to spread the toes and this is not possible in normal shoes. Normal shoes are too narrow at the front of the toes and the sole is too stiff, causing people to walk in an unnatural way.

Buy a barefoot shoe in which you cannot feel the front and sides of the shoe near your toes.

Zero drop is nice and important with a barefoot shoe. This means that there is no heel in the shoe. Almost all other shoes always have a built-in heel, even if you do not see it, even with sneakers, and this is bad for your back and makes for an unnatural walk.

A leather sole in the shoe ensures a good foot climate.

Toe socks, with a high cotton content, this helps to spread your toes in the shoe and therefore walk healthily and helps against sweaty feet. (Highly recommended) Toe socks force your toes to spread again and return to the correct position.

(only buy the brands that are extra wide at the toes)

Bare foot shoes from the Be Lenka brand are a high-quality option, very nice and very wide at the front of the shoe.
(The Be Lenka Trailwalker is really a top walking shoe / hiking shoe)

Also nice in the winter are the Oma King insoles made of natural latex and sheep fur.

I think Be Lenka is the broadest shoe brand and therefore also the nicest.

We bought our barefoot shoes 2 to 3 to 4 sizes larger than what we used to have. I used to walk in size 43 and now with barefoot shoes I easily buy size 46 or 47 dutch shoe size.

Ordering online is not recommended, it is better to try them on in the store because it varies a lot per brand.

The Vibram FiveFingers shoes are also an experience to walk in. And the hiking shoe from the Freet brand, you have to buy these a few sizes larger before they are spacious enough at the toes in the front.

Furthermore, many brands are ok, as long as it has an extra wide front toe box, there are brands that are too narrow in the front and I would not buy those.

Your feet continue to grow a little as you get older, and when you start walking in barefoot shoes your feet also grow a size in length and width.

For children we currently have shoes from Tikki Shoes and Be Lenka.
